We at ScienceArts recognize and value the importance of the task with which you are entrusting us when you leave your child here. Therefore,

  • At ScienceArts every opinion will be respected and every idea considered.
  • At ScienceArts all materials and tools used will be non-toxic. The utmost care will be taken to ensure the safety, well-being, and health of your child.
  • At ScienceArts we will work to integrate art and science with other subjects, such as social studies, language arts, and mathematics. We will make use of as many "teachable moments" as possible.
  • At ScienceArts we will try, through art and science education, to reach the minds and imaginations of your children to engender in them an awareness and love of the world around us.
  • At ScienceArts we recognize that it is essential that children have available to them a variety of materials in order to learn how to best express themselves. We will never "just paint it red." We will explore every possible facet of every project and experiment.
  • At ScienceArts we will not employ the use of technology other than microscopes and pottery wheels. Our children are bombarded with technology during most of their waking moments. We therefore feel that overhead projectors, cameras, computers, videos, and DVDs, while valuable as tools of communication in our world, are unnecessary in this setting. Here, your children will be the creators of their own media.
  • At ScienceArts your child will never be shown an "example" of how their art or science experiment should look. A teacher who holds an item up (physically or cognitively) as something a child should work toward is setting up her/his students for disappointment and frustration. Here your children will be provided with ideas, materials, time, and support.

In exchange for the above we ask of you the following:

  • Please take the time to look at and value the work your children take from ScienceArts.
  • Please display your children's artwork and science experiments as prominently as possible in your homes.
  • Please demonstrate to your children that you value their artistic expressions and scientific endeavors.
